World record attempt to take place at Goodwood Festival
26 June 2009
People with tickets to the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2009 this July will be able to witness a Guinness World Record attempt, according to Porsche.
Taking place from July 3rd to 5th, the event will bear witness to a world record-breaking attempt by the car producer to cover the longest distance in 48 hours by runners on treadmills.
Some 12 different runners will be taking part in a "remarkable demonstration of grit and determination", Porsche said.
The attempt has been organised by the Porsche Human Performance Centre at Silverstone and festivalgoers will be able to see how the runners are doing live over the weekend.
Currently, the record stands at 495.76 miles, so runners will have to keep up a speed of more than ten miles per hour for a chance at getting in the record books.
According to event organisers, the Goodwood Festival of Speed is the "biggest and most prestigious historic motorsport in the world", which takes place at the home of the Earl of March and his family.
