Rossi takes 100th Grand Prix win Valentino Rossi has won his 100th Grand Prix victory after finishing in pole position in Assen on Sunday June 28th.

The Italian defended his MotoGP world championship title throughout the race on his Fiat Yamaha and bagged himself a five point lead overall in the series.

Rossi told The Mirror: "I got a good start and pushed hard to make a break because I know Lorenzo would be very hard to beat."

He celebrated the win by unfurling a banner, which charted his success during his 14-year racing career and waved it in front of the TV cameras and fans.

Rossi, from the team Fiat Yamaha, now has 131 points in the championship, while Casey Stoner of the Ducati Marlboro group has 122 points.

The championship's next race will be held in Laguna Seca where Jorge Lorenzo crashed out last year in the first few minutes of the race.
