Grand Prix season is 'gathering pace'
02 July 2009
The 2009 MotoGP Grand Prix season is beginning to "gather pace" as the racers head to the US for the first time this year, according to PaddockTalk.
Italy's Valentino Rossi was highlighted as one to watch as he enters into round eight in "great form", the publication stated, adding his Yamaha M1 is "working brilliantly".
However, his "two key rivals" Jorge Lorenzo and Casey Stoner could pose a challenge as the racers head stateside for the Red Bull US Grand Prix at Laguna Seca, California.
But as Lorenzo has never finished a race at Laguna Seca - as he suffered a crash during his California debut last year - and Ducati star Stoner is plagued by fitness doubts, Rossi looks "as strong as ever".
Grand Prix racing at Laguna Seca has been the home of some "superb racing" since the annual event was reinstated in 2005, according to MotoGP.com.
2009 will mark the 11th time a Grand Prix race has been held at the circuit - despite a hiatus from 1994 to 2005.
