World Land Speed record holder to race at Goodwood
02 July 2009
Yet more treats are in store for visitors to the Goodwood Festival of Speed at the weekend (June 3rd to 5th), according to new reports.
The World Land Speed Record holder Andy Green will not only be making an appearance to fans at the event, but he will be taking to the hillclimb course in the new Vauxhall Insignia VHR.
Although he won't be reaching speeds of 763 miles per hour - as he did back in 1997 in the Thrust Super Sonic Car - he will be demonstrating the car's abilities on both the Saturday and Sunday morning supercar events at 09:00 BST .
"Fast road cars are the essence of the Festival and I am really looking forward to giving the Insignia a good run up the Hill this weekend," said Mr Green.
He added that the event was one of the "highlights" of his year.
Mr Green is set to be the driver of the 1,000 miles per hour world record attempt once the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car is completed. A 42-foot life-size model of the car will also be on display at the Festival.
The event takes place in the grounds of the home of Lord March and his family - Goodwood Estate.
