About the Hungarian Grand Prix

Hungarian Grand Prix Information

Despite the accident that nearly killed Felipe Massa in 2009 we think the Hungarian Grand Prix is one of the most underrated races on the calendar.

The track is built in a huge natural bowl about 1 hours drive from Budapest. Many of the drivers struggle with the track but we think that from a fans point of view this circuit offers fantastic viewing and incredible value for money. There are ample opportunities for overtaking and with the blind corners and track camber only the best engineering and driver skills will survive a race at the Hungaroring.

In summer the race track can get very hot and we recommend that all guests take care to avoid sunstroke and de-hydration. The track is well served by bars and food outlets and the stands offer great views of the most exciting parts of the track.

Unlike many circuits the Hungaroring is an old track and so it has developed in its own way. The bowl shape of the terrain allows for wide ranging views and in particular the Gold and Silver seating areas have a much larger angle of view than many other newer tracks.

Apart from the racing possibly the best thing about this choice is the city of Budapest. All our guests stay in the city and boy do they know how to party in Buda! The city itself is the proud owner of one of the most impressive parliament buildings in the world. Split in two by the river Danube Buda and Pest are combined as one city with two very different atmospheres. On the river front are a host of open air bars and restaurants and all across the city are a multitude of wonderful venues ranging from the simple bar to the Opera House.

One more thing to remember about Budapest is that it is also the home of some of the worlds great spa’s. Gellert spa is rightly famous as the home of one of the best massages and steam baths and is within easy walking distance from our hotels.

Walking around the city you will be struck by the friendliness of the people and by the stunning architecture of a city that survived world wars, communism and was once the home of one of Europe's greatest empires. (The Hapsburg’s in case you wanted to know.)

Goulash, wine, beer and trumpet cake are some of the culinary delicacies you must try whilst you are in Hungary and if you have a little time why not ask us to arrange a days tank driving in a Russian T52?

Do we recommend Hungary? 100%
