About the Singapore Grand Prix

Singapore Grand Prix Information

The only night race is in Singapore and what a place!

Located in the tropical heat Singapore is a world city in every sense of the word.

Changi airport is your first point of call and it has been voted the best in the world on numerous occasions. In fact it is so good that there is a hotel in the airport itself and people often stay there just to go shopping.
Immigration and customs are easy to deal with and because of the simplicity of it all we suggest that you simply walk out of the airport and join the que for a cab. There is never a long wait and all cabs are authorised and well driven. It takes about 15 -20 minutes to get into the city.

Despite the urban myths that state that Singapore is an authoritarian state in reality is a relaxed combination of European charm, Asian endeavour and frankly faultless hospitality.

Our hotel choices range across the affordable to the exclusive and whilst most people know of Raffles hotel we don’t suggest it is the best choice if you are here for the F1. Our choices are aimed at making sure that access to the various stands is easy and the rooms are excellent value.
If you are staying with our team on Orchard Road you will soon get to know the area and the little hints and tips we have picked up over the years are invaluable. For those of you who choose the luxury options we will be in attendance throughout your stay and we can show you as much or as little of the city as you like.

From the Sentosa resorts in the north, with their golf clubs, marine park and attractions to Little India and on to the beaches and along river we know Singapore like the back of our hands. For us the Formula 1 race has just put the icing on the cake.

Track tickets reflect the views that you get and of course the best views cost the most money. But there is an alternative which is to book a room with a view. Literally. Some hotels we offer have balconies that look right over the circuit and if you think Monaco is a good race you haven’t seen anything like Singapore!

The currency is the Singapore dollar and the city is well served for all modern ammenities.

The best places to see the Formula 1 are along the waterfront by the Esplanade or Fullerton Hotel or from one of the grandstands at Turn 1 unless you have a room with a view.

Throughout the city there are events throughout the F1 week and in 2010 Chaka Khan and the Back street Boys are set to perform for race fans and Singaporeans alike.

There are eight areas in the Marina Bay Street Circuit designed for entertainment. Including the F1 Village and Paddock Club Lifestyle Area in Zone 1, the Floating Platform in Zone 3, and the Padang, Stamford, Esplanade Park and Esplanade Waterfront stages in Zone 4.

Entertainment will start at 4pm, with and end around midnight. Acts will appear across multiple areas, except Chaka Khan who will be appearing exclusively in the Paddock Club Lifestyle Area and the Zone 1 stage.

Senegalese world music star Youssou N’Dour – listed in Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential People – and asian pop sensation Rivermaya are also appearing.

Ozomatli, that great band from LA are also set to appear in 2010.
A variety of other performers such as drumming troupes Wicked Aura Batucada and Strikeforce as well as Australian visual arts group Slack Taxi will be in the thick of the action among the spectators over this exciting weekend

Comedian Austin Flowers, Pavarotti impersonator tenor Roger Davy and the Brazilian Samba Girls are also appearing this year.
