The Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby

This legendary extravaganza is a must for all horseracing enthusiasts as it gives you the chance to attend the Kentucky Derby

The Kentucky Derby will take place for the 136th time at Churchill Downs in Louisville on 1st May 2010. One of the oldest continuously-held sporting events, the race was first contested back in 1875. Aristides was the winner that day in front of a crowd of about 10,000 Kentucky Derby ticket holders. For the 2010 Kentucky Derby, that number will be more like 150,000 to see “The Most Exciting Two Minutes in Sport”. Kentucky is known as the Bluegrass state as it is noted for its fertile soil and excellent pasture land which has helped in making Lexington the Horse Capital of the World. Home to 450 horse farms, some of Lexington’s wealthiest residents are horses.
