Sepang Circuit
The Sepang Circuit was the first F1 circuit in Asia outside of Japan. Since then Malaysia, China and Korea have joined the Asian countries.
Sepang is a much more exciting venue than TV suggests. The track is laid over undulating terrain and the tropical climate makes for some real excitement. Who can forget the torrential downpours that threw all the teams plans into disarray in 2009?
The circuit has a combination of twisting sections and huge, fast corners plus there are some massive braking zones before the hairpins that make for some real drama.
The circuit is 3.444 miles long and races are 192 miles in duration
Current lap time records are held by Pablo Montoya and have stood since 2004
The big corner is turn 5/6 where fast entry combined with a rapid change of direction mean that the cars are subject to heavy g forces.
