Cape Fear: A Unique event on an island!

On Friday 16 April 2010 history will be written... On that day the new event “Cape Fear” will take place. Location will be the Fort Island, located in the middle of the North Sea Canal near the coast of IJmuiden. For the first time in its existence, this mystical island, recognized by UNESCO as part of the world’s heritage, will be the location for a thrilling event featuring the best in Hardcore, Early Rave, Oldschool and Goa/Psychedelic.

The Location
The Fort Island near IJmuiden is an impenetrable fortress, build in 1876 to defend the waterways towards Amsterdam against attacks from the open sea. During both the First and Second World War the island became heavily fortified. The walls of the fortress were strengthened many times and dozens of bunkers are spread out over the island. In the mid ‘90s, UNESCO recognized the importance of Fort Island IJmuiden in Dutch history and awarded it a place on the World Heritage list.
The harbour of IJmuiden, from which the Fort Island can be reached by boat, is a 30 minute drive from the capital city of Amsterdam.

UDC has created a line-up just as exciting as the event itself. Not only is the formation of these artists special, also the battles and the mix of various styles will make Cape Fear an unforgettable event in every way.

Area 3: The Catacombs (Goa / Psychedelic)

Transport to and from the island
As mentioned before, Fort Island IJmuiden has been build to be an impenetrable fortress in the middle of the North Sea Canal. Transport to and from the island is only possible by boat. Therefore the organization has decided to use the luxurious party-ship Ocean Diva to get visitors on and off the island. Visitors can board the ship in the harbour of IJmuiden. After a short boattrip, visitors are free to explore all of the islands caves, hills, underground passages, old bunkers and caverns underneath the star-filled sky.
The first boat will set course to Fort Island IJmuiden at 20.30 hours.
